Monika announces the launch of its new Pathfinder RF Networking Technology

Monika has again broken new ground by adding its new Pathfinder RF wireless technology to its range of networking options. Prior to this Monika has avoided RF wireless systems due to their inherent vulnerability to "black spots" in the context of stainless steel and other barriers, which result unpredictable signal failure. Monika's new Pathfinder RF technology uses each monitoring point to form a network mesh, with each slave transmitter relaying data from other slaves as well sending its own data. This creates a robust, self-healing network that is not reliant on individual one-to-one RF links being maintained.  Instead the system dynamically selects the best route for the data through the network.

Pathfinder RF operates within the world-wide 2.4 GHz frequency band, using spread spectrum technology based on internationally recognised standard IEEE 802.15.4. This allows it to safely coexist with other RF technologies such as WiFi and Bluetooth. Monika Pathfinder RF equipment also carries FCC approval as further assurance against interference with other equipment.

Monika's traditional mains signalling networking technology remains available, as does its data cable options. All Monika network technologies, including the new Pathfinder RF technology, can be used in conjunction on a single site. Areas and buildings may be linked using the incumbent LAN backbone, or via the internal telephone system using dedicated modem extensions.
